Four worms and a lesson to be learned!!!!
A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.

Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.

The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.
The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.

The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol...Dead.

The second worm in cigarette smoke...Dead.
Third worm in chocolate syrup...Dead.
Fourth worm in good clean soil... Alive .

So the Minister asked the congregation, “What did you learn from this demonstration?”

Maxine was sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said,

'As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!'

That pretty much ended the service!

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election/

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds)took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail,
cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

_*Congressional Reform Act of 2011*_

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this
contract with Congressmen/women.

Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will
only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive
the message. Don't you think it's time?

Richaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard Pegue! Broadcasting Hall of Fame!

God bless the life and legacy of Richard Pegue and how he touched all of our lives. I'll never forget my first "teen DJ" show that Richard prepared me to do with him on WOPA-AM, but most significantly when I became the first Program Director of the new campus radio station WIUS-FM at Western Illinois University as well as radio personality at WHEN-AM and WIUM-FM I repeatedly won The Who's Who Awards for Best Radio Personality and Best Radio Program called what else "The Best Music Of Your Life." My thanks to Richard for allowing me to use the name while making broadcasting history at WIU as the first Freshman to be awarded a Prime Time Radio show, all because of my association with Richard Pegue along with a reference letter from Abe Thompson.

I CERTAINLY would like to join you on air on Friday and Saturday and hopefully we can use these two days to celebrate Richard as well as mobilize everybody on this list and radio listeners to kick off the latest call-in campaign to Bruce Dumont and The Broadcast
Museum on the nomination of Richard Pegue in the Radio Hall of Fame!!

I listened to him while studying broadcasting at Columbia, and then to graduate and go to work in news room at
WGCI was a thrill. The kicker was when Dusty Radio changed to Gospel Radio 1390 and he was kicked off the air
and replaced with me! People thought I was the reason he was fired! They didn't know office politics like we did!

Well, eventually my shift went from 9 hours to 8 hours to 7 hours, to 6 hours, then 5, then finally 4 hours until they changed to gospel music! Richard worked his magic on the devil until the shift was eventually eliminated all together! Go Richard Pegue!

If people knew the real deal, they would have picketed like back in the old days! So much for radio rights!
Anywho, looking forward to the Richard Pegue Tribute! Keep up the good work! Stay on purpose, stay empowered!

Growing up on the South side of Chicago, getting lost as a child, was actually a blessing in disguise. I will always remember the time my mother sent me downtown to the Daley Center to get a copy of my birth certificate and I got lost. I had not traveled outside of my immediate community to know that the State Street bus would take me downtown and back home in Stateway Gardens, on Federal Street, a block west of State Street.

After the death/transition of my mom, Katie, I went to live with my Aunt Edna in Mississippi, which scared me to death. As I matured and begin to travel in life, going to new places was no longer uncomfortable to me. I somehow knew that I’d make it back home safely.

I have lived South, North, West and East. I have learned that neither side is better than the other. People say “The South Side is the Devout Side, and the West Side is the Best Side.” You make the best of what you have, and who you are, wherever you are, inside.

A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee...

You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying A word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.

Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see." "Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked he r to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma the daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its insides became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid ! spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

A store that offers fathers for those who don’t have them has just opened in Chicago,
where anyone of the female species may go to choose a father.

Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

WELCOME TO THE Father Store!!

You may visit the store ONLY ONCE!
There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights.
There is, however, a catch... ! You may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

Happy Shopping!!!!

A woman goes to the Father Store to find a father
On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1: These fathers have children and take care of them.
If you’re looking for a man who loves children, this is a good choice.

The second floor sign reads:
Floor 2: These fathers have children, but are not with the mother, who has the children,
but he still takes care of them. This is a good choice also.

The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3: These fathers are single parent fathers, and looking for a woman with children to make blended family. Great choice!

"Wow," she says, these are great choices, but I don’t want to stop here, there may be something better! She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:

They are very good looking, sensitive and patient.

"Oh, My God!" she says to herself, "I can’t do this alone! I need help!
Too many good choices. Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads:

Richard Gere all rolled up into one.
They are simply drop-dead fine, love to help with the housework, homework
and massaging your feet!
Did I mention they are all very romantic?
They love to give flowers, write love letters, work long hard hours just to give
you and the kids everything you need and desire.

A woman never satisfied, she has to try the last floor because if it gets better than this,
she has to know about it.

After she reaches the last floor, the sixth floor, the sign reads:

Floor 6:
You are visitor 20, 130, 214 to this floor.

There are NO fathers on this floor.
They are all on the first five levels.
This floor exists solely as proof that most women think they know what they want,
but maybe not really sure due to what eveyone tells us what we want, desire,
deserve, etc. We really don’t know what we want,
thereby making it hard to please a woman with or without children.

So please be very grateful for the father in your life!
At least he’s there and you don’t have to go looking for him.
And if you do have to go looking for him, you probably know where he is.
If you can’t find him, spend some time with yourself, so when the right man/father/father figure shows up in your life, you can appreciate him on whatever level he’s on.

Urban Prep Academy senior Keith Greer, along with his classmates, celebrates the news they will receive a free prom in Chicago because 100 percent of the graduating class was accepted into 4-year colleges or universities.

The entire senior class at Chicago's only public all-male, all-African-American high school has been accepted to four-year colleges. At last count, the 107 seniors had earned spots at 72 schools across the nation.

Mayor Richard Daley and Chicago Public Schools chief Ron Huberman surprised students at an all-school assembly at Urban Prep Academy for Young Men in Englewood this morning to congratulate them. It's the first graduating class at Urban Prep since it opened its doors in 2006.

Huberman applauded the seniors for making CPS shine.

"All of you in the senior class have shown that what matters is perseverance, what matters is focus, what matters is having a dream and following that dream," Huberman said.

The school enforces a strict uniform of black blazers, khaki pants and red ties -- with one exception. After a student receives the news he was accepted into college, he swaps his red tie for a red and gold one at an assembly.

The last 13 students received their college ties today, to thunderous applause.

Ask Rayvaughn Hines what college he was accepted to and he'll answer with a question.

"Do you want me to name them all?"

For the 18-year-old from Back of the Yards, college was merely a concept--never a goal--growing up. Even within the last three years, he questioned if school, let alone college, was for him. Now, the senior is headed to the prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta , Ga. next fall.

Hines remembers the moment he put on his red and gold tie.

"I wanted to take my time because I was just so proud of myself," he said. "I wanted everyone to see me put it on."

The achievement might not merit a mayoral visit at one of the city's elite, selective enrollment high schools. But Urban Prep, a charter school that enrolls using a lottery in one of the city's more troubled neighborhoods, faced difficult odds. Only 4 percent of this year's senior class read at grade level as freshmen, according to Tim King, the school's CEO.

"I never had a doubt that we would achieve this goal," King said. "Every single person we hired knew from the day one that this is what we do: We get our kids into college."

College is omnipresent at the school. Before the students begin their freshman year, they take a field trip to Northwestern University . Every student is assigned a college counselor the day he steps foot in the school.

The school offers an extended day--170,000 more minutes over four years compared to its counterparts across the city--and more than double the number of English credits usually needed to graduate.

Even the school's voicemail has a student declaring "I am college bound" before it asks callers to dial an extension.

Normally, it takes senior Jerry Hinds two buses and 45 minutes to get home from school. On Dec. 11, the day University of Illinois at Champaign- Urbana was to post his admission decisions online at 5 p.m., he asked a friend to drive him home.

He went into his bedroom, told his well-wishing mother this was something he had to do alone, closed the door and logged in.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" he remembers screaming. His mother, who didn't dare stray far, burst in and began crying.

That night he made more than 30 phone calls, at times shouting "I got in" on his cell phone and home phone at the same time.

"We're breaking barriers," he said. "And that feels great."

It just doesn't get anymore inspirational than that!

I think this is awesome!!!

They walked in tandem, each of the ninety-two students filing into the already crowded auditorium. With their rich maroon gowns flowing and the traditional caps, they looked almost as grown up as they felt.

Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and Moms freely brushed away tears.

This class would NOT pray during the commencements, not by choice, but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it.

The principal and several students were careful to stay within the guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for blessings on the graduates or their families.

The speeches were nice, but they were routine until the final speech received a standing ovation.

A solitary student walked proudly to the microphone. He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then, it happened.

All 92 students, every single one of them, suddenly SNEEZED !!!!

The student on stage simply looked at the audience and said,

'GOD BLESS YOU'

And he walked off the stage...

The audience exploded into applause. This graduating class had found a unique way to invoke God's blessing on their future with or without the court's approval.

Social Worker Commits to Only Patronizing Black-Owned Businesses

KANSAS CITY, Mo.

We all have New Year’s resolutions. Ultimately they all involve changing some habit into positive behavior. But one local woman’s goal benefits an entire community.

"I've made a commitment to shop only black-owned businesses for an entire year," said Lora McDonald.

As a social worker, McDonald found she was earning a living off working with blacks and wanted to find a way to put some of that money back into the black community. She decided to patronize only black-owned businesses for an entire year.

In two months McDonald has struggled with singling out those stores to meet all of her needs. She has, however, found the only black-owned grocery store in Kansas City - Leon’s Thriftway.

“Their service is incredible, like I never carry my own groceries to my car," said McDonald.

Leon Stapleton has owned Leon's Thriftway since 1968. He said when he started, there were several black-owned grocery stores in Kansas City.

He credits their commitment to good customer service for his successful business.

"I think it's just extra hard work on our part, and just taking care of our neighborhood. We have a neighborhood store," said Stapleton.

An avid shopper, McDonald’s choices are now narrowed when it comes to shopping for clothes. She often shops Micah’s in Crown Center.

"We started as a children's store in 1999," said Andrea Carnes.

Carnes owns Micah's clothing store in Crown Center. Carnes has owned a business in Crown Center for the past 11 years.

She feels the real secret to success is a solid business plan and the support of those around you. In addition to Carnes’ friends and family, she also credits Crown Center for providing an excellent atmosphere for opening a business.

"My advice to anyone starting their business is do their preparation, do their homework," added Carnes.

After a long day McDonald likes to go to Qudo’s Cigar Bar at 1116 Grand Boulevard.

As a new owner, David Lux also believes a strong business plan goes a long way. He also cautions future owners not to take advantage of beginning profits.

"If you make $4,500 dollars in a weekend, you don't just stick $3,800.00 in your pocket and go shopping. You put it back into the business. I think that's why a lot of businesses fail," said Lux.

McDonald has 10 months to go on her year-long journey.

According to BET and parent company Viacom, the study “African-Americans Revealed” shows that we’re primarily interested in “family dynamics, tech savvy/adoption, spirituality and education.” Which definitely resonates with me. I probably fall somewhere in and among the Striver, Conscious Sister & Tech-fluential categories below. I’m super-curious to know where you’d put yourself. Where would you put the First Family? Holla at me in the comments…!

Here’s some coverage of the study with more details. Still I rise, y’all. Still I rise. I hope this deep dive into the actual interests of their target audience leads to some positive changes in BET’s programming away from booty-shaking videos and ancient mediocre sitcoms.

Strivers account for the largest segment, numbering 7.9 million individuals and making up 36 percent of the BET audience. Conscious Sisters are Gen Xers in their 30s and 40s who are culturally and spiritually aware; one in five BET viewers best align with this category. Tech-Fluentials and Bright Horizons are the youngest, most digitally savvy groups and when taken together, they account for a quarter of BET’s overall viewership.

According to a comprehensive BET survey of the African-American community recently released, African Americans in 2008 accounted for a 10% increase in population from 2008 versus 2000, while African-American buying power increased more than 55% during the same period to $913 billion. The “African Americans Revealed” study of more than 80,000 African-American consumers on multi-media engagement and digital applications, shows African-Americans are very tech savvy, with roughly 31% of African American discretionary spending dollars, or $39 billion, going toward the purchase of computers, cell phones and electronics – a proportionally higher percentage when compared to non-African-Americans.

African Americans:

Spend more weekly time online (18 hours) than watching television (15 hours)
93% go online traditionally via their PC’s, while 76% access the web via their cell phones 60% have downloaded music, a TV show, movie or ringtone in the previous month
50% regularly update and access a social networking account
The included segmentation study revealed that African-Americans are not a monolithic group but rather break down into seven distinct groups defined by similar characteristics, including buying power and habits, media consumption, and influences:

If you are donating to charities providing earthquake relief in Haiti , you may be able to claim those donations on your 2009 tax return. 10 important facts the Internal Revenue Service wants you to know about this special provision.

1. A new law allows you to claim donations for Haitian relief on your 2009 tax return, which you will be filing this year.

2. The contributions must be made specifically for the relief of victims in areas affected by the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti .

3. To be eligible for a deduction on the 2009 tax return, donations must be made after Jan. 11, 2010 and before March 1, 2010.

4. In order to be deductible, contributions must be made to qualified charities and can not be designated for the benefit of specific individuals or families.

5. The new law applies only to cash contributions.

6. Cash contributions made by text message, check, credit card or debit card may be claimed on your federal tax return.

7. You must itemize your deductions in order to claim these donations on your tax return.

8. You have the option of deducting these contributions on either your 2009 or 2010 tax return, but not both.

9. Contributions made to foreign organizations generally are not deductible. You can find out more about organizations helping Haitian earthquake victims from agencies such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (www.usaid.gov).

10. Federal law requires that you keep a record of any deductible donations you make. For donations by text message, a telephone bill will meet the record-keeping requirement if it shows the name of the organization receiving your donation, the date of the contribution, and the amount given.

For cash contributions made by other means, be sure to keep a bank record, such as a cancelled check or a receipt from the charity.

Receipts should show the name of the charity, the date and amount of the contribution.

To determine if an organization is a qualified charity visit IRS.gov, keyword "Search for Charities". The Link & Option Center Debuts Live Talk Show on CAN-TV21
“The Community Link Live Talk Show” airs Fridays through April 1

The Link & Option Center (TLOC), a non-profit human services organization that services
at-risk children, adolescents and their families in Chicago and south suburban Cook County,
is pleased to announce the debut of its live, call-in program, The Community Link Live
Talk Show, airing Friday, Jan. 8 on CAN TV21.

For the next 13 weeks The Community Link Live Talk Show will air every Friday at 4 p.m.
and feature special guests including community leaders, local government officials, and staff
and students from TLOC. Ms. Twin Green, founding President and CEO of TLOC,
will be the show’s first guest.

“This talk show is just one way we can communicate TLOC’s mission to a wider audience
and showcase our programs to families who may not be familiar with us,” said Ms. Twin Green,
founding President and CEO of The Link & Option Center. “Through our organization, we hope
to provide children and their families with progressive opportunities for learning, mentoring,
academic support and vocational training.”

Ms. Green founded TLOC in 1995 in response to the struggles her 8-year old son was experiencing
in school. His lack of focus and direction, due to the separation between he and his father, was
taking him down a negative path filled with failing grades and delinquency. As she worked with
her son, she discovered that this was what she was meant to do: to inspire and help unfocused
youth to stay in school, rise above their situations and strive to achieve their fullest potential.

“While helping my son and other youth in similar situations, I saw a growing need for structured,
academic tutoring in the community,” said Ms. Green. “Eventually, the needs of the community led
The Link & Option Center to expand its programming from providing only educational support
to offering mentoring services, family-centered referral services, computer training, an alternative
to school suspension program, anger management, 6th District Court diversion, and Juvenile Justice
mental health counseling.

The Community Link Live Talk Show’s format will focus on programming and services The Link
& Option Center provides to the community, which includes: Excel Beyond the Bell (tutoring program);
Alternative to School Suspension and Intervention; TeenREACH After School Program; Mentoring;
Mental Health Juvenile Justice Counseling; Mentoring Children of Prisoners/Caregivers Choice;
6th District Court Diversion (Peer Jury); and Adult Probation Treatment Services.

Never in my life have I been so inspired by someone like I have by Ms. Eartha Kitt! She may be gone, but by no means forgotten. I had the pleasure of meeting her while visiting her show at a local club here in Chicago. My girlfriend and I, Effie Rolfe, were simply in awe of an 80 year young entertainer who could still do a split on stage while singing!

Gone but not fogotten. We miss. love and appreciate your legacy!

Did you happen to see The Monique Show last night on BET? If you didn't, you missed a treat! The Master of P-Funk, Sir George Clinton appeared (as well as Author/Proflific Speaker Dr. Cornell West) was in full-funk-effect!

It reminded me of all the good times we had back in the 70's, when music was music! It also reminded me of something that most folk don't know, and that is all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. That's what we specialize in with The Higher Learning Network,NFP!

Since we produce TV/Radio/Print Production Behind-The-Scenes, we know that it takes a team to make the group/host/guests look great.

In TV, it's the Director/Technical Director/Graphics Director/Floor Director/Audio Techs, and more!

In Radio it's the Program Director/Producer/Promotions Dept./Music Director/Sales Dept/Management, Interns and more!

In Print it's the Writer/Writer's Assistant (if they're lucky enough to have one) Editor, Managers, etc.

But in Music, it's a w-h-o-l-e lot of folk, toooooooooo many to mention! So I will begin with what you probably recognize most, and that is the album cover. Someone had to design the cover. Guess who was designing those covers with all that funky artwork, for all those years!

Chicago's Pedro Bell was the artist behind some of music's most iconic album covers.
Now his life is anything but a pretty picture.

Thick dust covers the gold lame shirt and silver leather coat in Pedro Bell's closet.
The clothes are remnants from a brighter time when Bell, a rainbow Afro wig on his head
and platform shoes on his feet, strutted through Chicago as a charter member of the
'70s funk revolution whose sound is heavily sampled in rap songs today.

"It was psychedelic from a black perspective," Bell said.
Bell, 59, designed the cover art for more than two dozen George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic albums.
Under the name Sir Lleb (Bell backward), he wrote the albums' liner notes, peppering them with cartoonish drawings,
clever puns and names like "Thumpasaurus" and "Funkapus" that remain synonymous with Clinton's music.
"George Clinton gets a lot of credit for the conceptual dimension of P-Funk, but actually Pedro Bell was a big part
of that with his texts and imagery," said Pan Wendt, co-curator of a gallery exhibition in Toronto called "Funkaesthetics"

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

Va. Man Spends $1 Million on Inaugural Package for Disadvantaged

It was billed as the biggest, most eye-popping of the inauguration hotel packages: the JW Marriott's $1 million "build-your-own-ball" offer. You get 300 rooms, four suites, $200,000 worth of food and drink, and a primo site overlooking the Pennsylvania Avenue parade route.

And it was snapped up within hours of Barack Obama's election as president by a customer the hotel declined to identify.

This morning, the Marriott is scheduled to announce that the buyer is a Virginia businessman who wants to bring to the inauguration disadvantaged people, terminally ill patients, wounded soldiers and others down on their luck.

Earl W. Stafford, 60, of Fairfax County, the founder of a Centreville technology company who grew up as one of 12 children of a Baptist minister, said he will provide his guests lodging, food and special access, as well as beauticians, gowns and tuxedos, if necessary.

Stafford has paid the $1 million, a spokesman said, and is prepared to spend $600,000 more for a breakfast, a luncheon and two balls at the hotel. Stafford said he hopes to recoup some of the $600,000 from other sponsors, yet to be recruited.

"We wanted to . . . bless those who otherwise wouldn't have an opportunity to be a part of the great celebration, the inauguration and the festivities," he said in an interview yesterday. "Our objective is to bring in a cross-section of society -- those who are distressed, those who are terminally ill, those who are socially and economically disadvantaged, those veterans who are wounded and served our country."

Stafford said the idea was inspired by his deep religious faith and the good fortune that has come his way. The inauguration is an opportunity to remember the less fortunate and remind the country of its traditions of benevolence, he said.

"We've gotten away from those core values that made America great," he said yesterday at the headquarters of his company, Unitech, which provides weapons simulation systems to the military. "We just need to get back to caring about one another."

The initiative, in its early stages, comes amid hard economic times, when many in the Washington region are seeking ways to make money on the inauguration -- be it hotels charging sky-high rates or residents renting out homes and apartments.

Stafford said his guests, yet to be chosen, will come from across the country. They can watch the parade from a heated tent atop the Marriott's terrace, with terrific views and every comfort available.

"We're not charging a dime," Stafford said.

"The People's Inauguration," as Stafford calls it, is scheduled to unfold Jan. 18, 19 and 20, with lodging all three nights. He said the initiative will be funded through the family's nonprofit Stafford Foundation, created in 2002; this will be its first major enterprise.

In addition to providing the hotel, at Pennsylvania Avenue and 14th Street NW, Stafford plans a prayer breakfast there the morning of the 19th -- Martin Luther King Jr. Day -- and a luncheon that day.

The next day, Inauguration Day, a youth ball is planned at the hotel, as well as a "People's Inaugural Ball."

Stafford said he wants at least 30 percent of those staying in his rooms and participating in the events to be disadvantaged or needy in some way. The remaining participants could be people from sponsoring foundations, contributing companies or volunteers.

He said he began thinking about the project in March. He voted for Obama, and records show he contributed $4,600 to his campaign. Stafford, a retired Air Force officer, noted that he does not agree with all of Obama's positions.

Still, he concluded that Obama could win the election and realized that the inauguration would be "a transition in history, if you will . . . and everyone should be included."

Stafford, who is black, said he views the election of the nation's first African American president as a moment that promises a renewed emphasis on the needs of people.

He said he is working with the National Urban League and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, the country's premier black-oriented think tank, and will talk to the military services to help select the people to invite.

"We intend to reach out to some of the hospitals, some of the homeless shelters, some of the other social agencies who then will host these individuals, be responsible for these individuals coming in," he said.

"We'll provide the venue. We'll provide all the amenities and those type of things," he said. The partnering organizations, such as the Urban League, will be allocated a certain number of rooms for people they help select. "The Urban League will be responsible for their safety, their security, for bringing them in to Washington," he said.

"There will be those who are distressed and underserved mingling with people who aren't so," he said. The needy will be "our honored guests. That's who inspire us."

He wants gowns and tuxedos to be provided, and has hired beauticians "to make it special for these people coming in," he said.

Stafford grew up in Mount Holly, N.J., across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, where his father was a minister at the Second Baptist Church. He served for many years in the Air Force, where he was an air traffic controller, and said he gets chills when he hears the national anthem.

His company, which has been through hard times and good times, has 475 employees and expected revenue of $150 million this year, he said. Stafford founded it in the late 1980s. The firm did an array of work for the likes of NASA, almost went bust in the 1990s, recovered and began specializing in training and weapons simulation devices for the military. It now provides systems that use lasers to simulate the effects of gunfire during exercises and recently supplied the military with simulated makeshift bombs that soldiers can use to train.

Stafford is a tall man with graying hair who wears cuff links, peers over gold-rimmed glasses and still recalls the kindness of a tough high school homeroom teacher who once took him home for dinner. "He invested in me," he said.

Stafford attends Alexandria's Alfred Street Baptist Church, one of the oldest African American churches in the country.

His undertaking will be complex.

"It will definitely be a challenge," Ralph B. Everett, president of the D.C.-based Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, said in an e-mail. "But if anyone can make this happen, it's Earl Stafford. . . . We are determined to do everything possible to help Earl achieve his vision."

Stafford said he began shopping around for a suitable inauguration venue months ago. He tried the Newseum and the Willard Hotel, and was considering a smaller suite at the Hay Adams Hotel when he read a newspaper story about the Marriott's package. "The price tag was pretty stiff, but we felt that that's what the Lord would have us to do," he said.

"There's a saying in the Bible," he said. "To whom much is given, much is required."

If you're anything like me, you've probably never event given a thought as to attend a presidential inauguration. But because history is being made, people are coming from all over the world for this event! It's going to be a mad house, and I am in the midst of it!

Organizers realize there won't be room for everyone in the capital and are making plans to do something to help ease the pain of attending. Here's an update from one of my fellow producers at Chicago Access Television!

NATIONAL MALL WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON INAUGURATION DAY

WASHINGTON, DC - December 4, 2008 - In keeping with its pledge to make the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama
one of the most open and accessible in history, the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) announced today that, for the
first time, the entire length of the National Mall will be opened to the public so that more people than ever before will be able
to witness the swearing-in of the President from a vantage point in sight of the Capitol.

The PIC has worked closely with officials from the District of Columbia government, the National Park Service, the Armed Forces
Inaugural Committee (AFIC), and the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) to make space at
this historic location available to members of the public who are unable to obtain tickets to the swearing-in. Those who come
to witness the swearing-in on the Mall will be able to watch and listen to the ceremony on large screens that will be provided
by the PIC along the Mall.

"We're grateful to local, federal, and military officials for their efforts to open up the National Mall to Americans who want to
participate in this historic occasion," said PIC Executive Director Emmett S. Beliveau. "These arrangements represent our
committee's continuing commitment to make next year's historic inauguration as accessible as possible to citizens in
Washington, D.C., and across the country."

"This will be an Inauguration for all Americans," said Washington, D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty. "And so we are dedicated to
opening it up so that people from across the country can gather together in America's front yard. We remain hard at work to
ensure the day's festivities are safe and accessible for visitors, residents, and businesses alike."

In the past, the National Mall has been used as a staging area for participants in the inaugural parade. But in response to early
indications that more Americans than usual may travel to Washington to join in celebration of our shared values and common
purpose, officials have worked tirelessly in recent weeks to relocate the parade staging area. Inaugural parade participants
will be announced next week.

In the coming days and weeks, the PIC will release further information about viewing the inauguration from the National Mall
and other inaugural events.

A friend pointed out to me that if everyone votes on Tuesday Nov. 4th, everything will be overwhelmed and chaoctic! water workout!

I recently found out a girlfriend of mine had been keeping a secret from me. I wondered why she was losing weight and looking so good! I knew she was NOT on a diet, because she doesn't do diets.

We go dancing weekly and she even dances all night long, and she weighs well over 300 pounds! Not anymore! Since she's been drinking this water, I can see her ankles as well as her waist (Never knew she had one!) is even showing now. She hasn't worn a belt in over 20 years I'm sure.

I'm not mad at her, but I think she could have told me about this water. I already knew about Alkaline water, and how it reduces the toxins in our systems. I already knew it was good for us, but with our busy lives, we sometimes forget what we know we need to do. I'd completely forgotten until I saw her a month ago and seen how she's dropped some weight with her new LIQUID WORKOUT! And she's not even swimming! All she's doing is drinking the water!

So now I am drinking the water. People are asking me the same question, what am I doing? I now say the same thing. I am drinking the water and having a LIQUID WORKOUT TOO! I don't exercise, all I do is walk (never enough) and drink plenty of this water, every hour on the hour!

I drink it when I have a headache, back ache, carpet tunnel. PMS and pretty much any other ailment I have. It just doesn't stop! Now you know why I feel the way I do and look the way I do. It's the water! Do yourself a favor and do the investigation yourself. DON'T BELEIVE A WORD I SAY! SEE FOR YOURSELF.

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's historic rise as the first black — and first Chicagoan — to be nominated for president
by a major party promises to recast the city's international image, one of many implications his potential presidency
holds for his hometown.

An Obama presidency would have an effect on everything from Chicago's relationship with the federal government
to its chances of winning the 2016 Olympics. Fundamentally, the city's rat-a-tat-tat reputation would be eclipsed
by a new face and a new image as home of the leader of the free world.

"The second Barack Obama becomes president, the Al Capone era and the extent to which that still defines Chicago
for a lot of people around the world is over," says David Wilhelm, former Democratic National Committee chairman.
"It's done."

But in the short run, Chicago's image will take a media drubbing as campaign ads for the presumptive Republican nominee
John McCain tie Mr. Obama to Chicago machine politics and the corruption that has come to epitomize the city in the
public mind. The real payoff won't come unless and until Mr. Obama wins the race, giving the city a direct connection
to the White House.

"I think my phone calls will be answered, which is good, and I can sit down and work with Barack on priorities for our

When your hut is on fire

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited

island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he

scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted,

he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect

him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after

scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames,

with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and

everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger.

He cried out, 'God! How could you do this to me?' Early the next day,

he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had

come to rescue him! 'How did you know I was here?' asked the weary man

of his rescuers. 'We saw your smoke signal,' they replied.

The Moral of This Story:

It's easy to get discouraged when thin gs are going bad, but we

shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the

midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your

little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke

signal that summons the Grace of God.

I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers.

Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes!

Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like...
'You know, sometimes I forget to eat!'
Now, I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name and my keys. But I have never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!

The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then they marry him.

I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are - eating too much; impulse buying and driving too fast.
Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!

John was a salesman's delight when it came to any kind of unusual gimmick.
His wife Marsha had long ago given up trying to get him to change.
One day John came home with another one of his unusual purchases.
It was a robot that John claimed was actually a lie detector.

It was about 5:30 that afternoon when Tommy,
their 11 year old son, returned home from school.
Tommy was over 2 hours late.

'Where have you been?
Why are you over 2 hours late getting home?' asked John.

'Several of us went to the library to work on an extra credit project,' said Tommy.

The robot then walked around the table and slapped Tommy,
knocking him completely out of his chair.

'Son,' said John,
'this robot is a lie detector, now tell us where you really were after school.'

'We went to Bobby's house and watched a movie.' said Tommy.

'What did you watch?' asked Marsha.

'The Ten Commandments.' answered Tommy.

The robot went around to Tommy and once again slapped him,
knocking him off his chair once more.

With his lip quivering, Tommy got up,
sat down and said, 'I am sorry I lied.
We really watched a tape called Sex Queen.'

'I am ashamed of you son,' said John.
'When I was your age, I never lied to my parents.'

The robot then walked around to John
and delivered a whack that nearly knocked him out of his chair.

Marsha doubled over in laughter, almost in tears and said,
'Boy, did you ever ask for that one!
You can't be too mad with Tommy.
After all, he is your son!'

With that the robot walked around to Marsha
and knocked her out of her chair.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930s, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!
First, we survived being born to mothers who, while they were pregnant;
Took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.As infants &children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because, WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.No one was able to reach us all day.

And we were O.K.We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or D VD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computer! s, no Internet or chat rooms........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

My Vote's for Obama (if I could vote) ...by Michael Moore

Friends,

I don't get to vote for President this primary season. I live in Michigan. The party leaders (both here and in D.C.) couldn't get their act together, and thus our votes will not be counted.

So, if you live in Pennsylvania, can you do me a favor? Will you please cast my vote -- and yours -- on Tuesday for Senator Barack Obama?

I haven't spoken publicly 'til now as to who I would vote for, primarily for two reasons: 1) Who cares?; and 2) I (and most people I know) don't give a rat's ass whose name is on the ballot in November, as long as there's a picture of JFK and FDR riding a donkey at the top of the ballot, and the word "Democratic" next to the candidate's name.

Seriously, I know so many people who don't care if the name under the Big "D" is Dancer, Prancer, Clinton or Blitzen. It can be Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Barry Obama or the Dalai Lama.

Well, that sounded good last year, but over the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting. I guess the debate last week was the final straw. I've watched Senator Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst side of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name "Farrakhan" out of nowhere, well that's when the silly season came to an early end for me. She said the "F" word to scare white people, pure and simple. Of course, Obama has no connection to Farrakhan. But, according to Senator Clinton, Obama's pastor does -- AND the "church bulletin" once included a Los Angeles Times op-ed from some guy with Hamas! No, not the church bulletin!

This sleazy attempt to smear Obama was brilliantly explained the following night by Stephen Colbert. He pointed out that if Obama is supported by Ted Kennedy, who is Catholic, and the Catholic Church is led by a Pope who was in the Hitler Youth, that can mean only one thing: OBAMA LOVES HITLER!

Yes, Senator Clinton, that's how you sounded. Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity. How sad that I would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted your life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for an office you can't win unless you smear the black man so much that the superdelegates cry "Uncle (Tom)" and give it all to you.

But that can't happen. You cast your die when you voted to start this bloody war. When you did that you were like Moses who lost it for a moment and, because of that, was prohibited from entering the Promised Land.

How sad for a country that wanted to see the first woman elected to the White House. That day will come -- but it won't be you. We'll have to wait for the current Democratic governor of Kansas to run in 2016 (you read it here first!).

There are those who say Obama isn't ready, or he's voted wrong on this or that. But that's looking at the trees and not the forest. What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound, massive public movement for change. My endorsement is more for Obama The Movement than it is for Obama the candidate.

That is not to take anything away from this exceptional man. But what's going on is bigger than him at this point, and that's a good thing for the country. Because, when he wins in November, that Obama Movement is going to have to stay alert and active. Corporate America is not going to give up their hold on our government just because we say so. President Obama is going to need a nation of millions to stand behind him.

I know some of you will say, 'Mike, what have the Democrats done to deserve our vote?' That's a damn good question. In November of '06, the country loudly sent a message that we wanted the war to end. Yet the Democrats have done nothing. So why should we be so eager to line up happily behind them?

I'll tell you why. Because I can't stand one more friggin' minute of this administration and the permanent, irreversible damage it has done to our people and to this world. I'm almost at the point where I don't care if the Democrats don't have a backbone or a kneebone or a thought in their dizzy little heads. Just as long as their name ain't "Bush" and the word "Republican" is not beside theirs on the ballot, then that's good enough for me.

I, like the majority of Americans, have been pummeled senseless for 8 long years. That's why I will join millions of citizens and stagger into the voting booth come November, like a boxer in the 12th round, all bloodied and bruised with one eye swollen shut, looking for the only thing that matters -- that big "D" on the ballot.

Don't get me wrong. I lost my rose-colored glasses a long time ago.

It's foolish to see the Democrats as anything but a nicer version of a party that exists to do the bidding of the corporate elite in this country. Any endorsement of a Democrat must be done with this acknowledgement and a hope that one day we will have a party that'll represent the people first, and laws that allow that party an equal voice.

Finally, I want to say a word about the basic decency I have seen in Mr. Obama. Mrs. Clinton continues to throw the Rev. Wright up in his face as part of her mission to keep stoking the fears of White America. Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say that when she and her husband were having marital difficulties regarding Monica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for 'spiritual counseling?' THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT!"

But no, Obama won't throw that at her. It wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be decent. She's been through enough hurt. And so he remains silent and takes the mud she throws in his face.

That's why the crowds who come to see him are so large. That's why he'll take us down a more decent path. That's why I would vote for him if Michigan were allowed to have an election.

But the question I keep hearing is... 'can he win? Can he win in November?' In the distance we hear the siren of the death train called the Straight Talk Express. We know it's possible to hear the words "President McCain" on January 20th. We know there are still many Americans who will never vote for a black man. Hillary knows it, too. She's counting on it.

Pennsylvania, the state that gave birth to this great country, has a chance to set things right. It has not had a moment to shine like this since 1787 when our Constitution was written there. In that Constitution, they wrote that a black man or woman was only "three fifths" human. On Tuesday, the good people of Pennsylvania have a chance for redemption.

Master Card Wedding

You've got to love this guy.
This is a true story about a recent wedding that
took place at Clemson University . It made the
local newspaper; even Jay Leno mentioned it.
It was a huge wedding with about 300 guests.
After the wedding, at the reception, the
groom got up on stage with a
microphone to talk to the crowd.

He said he wanted to thank everyone for coming,
many from long distances, to support them at
their wedding. He especially wanted to thank
the bride's family & to especially thank his
new father-in-law for providing such a
lavish reception.

As a token of his deep appreciation he said he wanted
to give everyone a special gift just from him. So taped
to the bottom of everyone's chair, including the
wedding party, was an envelope.

He stressed
that this was his gift to everyone, & asked them to open their envelope.
Inside each manila envelope was an 8 x 10 glossy of his
bride having sex with his best friend, the best man.
The groom had gotten suspicious of them weeks
earlier & had hired a private detective to tail them.

After just standing there, just watching the guests' reactions
for a couple of minutes, he turned to his best man & said,
'F--- you!' Then he turned to his bride & said, 'F--- you!'
Then he turned back to the dumbfounded crowd & said,
'I'm outta here.' He had the marriage annulled first
thing the following morning.

While most people would have cancelled the Wedding
immediately after finding out about the affair, this
guy goes through with the charade, as if nothing
were wrong. His revenge--making the bride' s
parents pay over $32,000 for a 300+ guest wedding & reception, & best of all,
trashing the bride & his best
man's reputation in front of
300+ friends & family members.

IS CHRISTIANITY A FRAUD? BIBLE AUTHORSHIP CHALLENGED: BLACK WOMEN ORIGINAL AUTHORS

In honor of Black History Month, author, and traditional African chief priestess, Vivian Hunter-Hindrew, M.Ed. has put together a slide show challenging the authenticity of the bible's claims of authorship. She proposes that African women were the original authors of what is known as "bible prophecy." Hunter-Hindrew also claims that this knowledge has always been known by the Roman Church, but kept hidden (some in plain-view) for centuries.
Hunter-Hindrew has created an awe-inspiring slide presentation as a trailer to her ground breaking new book:
The Sibyls: the First Prophetess' of Mami (Wata): Demystifying the Absence of Black Women in Bible Prophecy. MWHS 2007.

In it Hunter-Hindrew argues that:
For 6,000 years, Africa was ruled by a powerful order of Sibyl matriarchs. They produced the world's first oracles, prophetess and prophets. Known as "Pythoness," they worked the oracles in the Black Egyptian colonies in ancient Greece, Rome, Turkey, Israel, Syria and Babylon. Their holy temples were more numerous than the churches of today.

In ancient Rome, they first established the "holy seat" of the Vatican advising the world's heads of state. Centuries before Christ, they cured epileptics, the blind, lepers and "caste out demons." It was a Sibyl who called-up the spirit of "Apostle" Samuel. Their "pagan" prophecies were used by the emerging Roman papals to create a "western theological" foundation and became the undisputed precursor for the Christian Bible. Previously published in "Mami Wata: Africa's Ancient God/dess Unveiled," and supported by solid evidence, African women's religious history is finally being unearthed, exposing shocking revelations buried for more than 2000 years.
Hunter-Hindrew further states that: "For centuries Black men and women have been taught to not question the Bible's authenticity for threat of "an eternity in Hell."

The Roman Church was the main orchestrator and profiteer of Slavery and the deliberate impoverishment of Africa. How is it possible for this same institution to be the sacred vessel and vehicle for the "truths of God?" Hunter-Hindrew further contends that "Black men and women have been taught to accept the legitimacy of the western Bible, " especially the New Testament." What they do not realize is that the New Testament is a historical chronicle of the final destruction of the emerging Christian cult's biggest rival, that being the powerful African religious orders that dominated the ancient world since time immemorial.

Especially the African matriarchs. Just as Black resistance to slavery, these holy African temples and prophetess mothers resisted the emerging "Christian" cult's imperialist's ambitions toward world domination. Yet, millions in the Diaspora do not know that the "pagans, witches, and idolaters" that St. Paul speaks of converting in the New Testament were their ancient religious mothers and fathers. Finally, Hunter-Hindrew states that "the enslaved minds of the Diaspora are the last and most enduring stronghold that the West preys upon in keeping them in subjugation.

inspiration from annie penn robinson

Life always brings new challenges, one of those challenges is death.
During the Xmas season my high school friend's (Michale Coleman aka Crick) wife (Joyce Coleman) passed, and then New Year's Day my sister-in-law (Annie Penn Robinson) made her transition. Two transistions in one week.

I'm just very glad that I listened to my inner intution and called Annie at 2 o'clock in the morning, just to say hi. When I called I was informed she was in the hospital, and probably not be able to speak. I knew then she'd decided to leave this planet earth. I'm also very grateful that I talke to her almost daily before she left, as we all knew her time was short.

The challenge now is to live life like there is no tomorrow. It makes me think about all the projects I want to complete before I leave the planet. It makes me think about how much work I've got left to do before it's my time to check out. More importantly, it reminds me to keep in contact with people, the old fashioned way, by telephone.

There's nothing like the sound of the human voice. It's something you can't experience in an email. On the phone you can sometimes hear what's going on inside of the person. You can tell if they're happy, tired, stressed or just need to talk.

I's so glad I followed my first mind (intution) and called Annie Penn, so that I have no regrets. It's a constant challenge to stop what you're doing when you're in the middle of something, just to call someone. Sometimes it's worth it.

All the other times I called Annie Penn when she was able to talk was truly a blessing. I have no regrets. Even in her death, she taught lessons on living. For that I am grateful. I hope you can be as grateful and conquer the challenge of making a call when you need to, even if it's 2am in the morning.

Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.
Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that's not meant to be. - AMEN! AMEN!
Slower is better.
Never live your life for a man before you find whatmakes you truly happy.

If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no,
you can't "be friends".
A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend. - SO TRUE, SO TRUE!
Don't settle.

If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.
Don't stay because you think "it will get better."
You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
The only person you can control in a relationship is you.

Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women.
He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently? - AMEN!

Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you.
If something bothers you, speak up.
You cannot change a man's behavior.* Change comes from within. - AMEN!

Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are... even if he has more education or in a better job. - THAT'S RIGHT!

Do not make him into a quasi-god.
He is a man, nothing more nothing less. - AMEN!

Never let a man define who you are. -
ABSOLUTELY!Never borrow someone else's man.
If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you. - DOUBLE AMEN!

A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you. - AMEN!

All men are NOT dogs. - WHAT!

You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is two way street.
You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you..
a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals..
look for someone complimentary
...not supplementary. - AMEN!

Make him miss you sometimes

Never move into his mother's house.
Never co-sign for a man. - THAT'S RIGHT!
Share this with other women and men (just so they know)...
You'llmake someone smile,
another rethink her choices,
and another woman prepare.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person,
an hour to appreciate them,
a day to love them and
an entire lifetime to forget them

I'm sharing this message with most of you because I know you are either seeking a relationship, considering marriage, newly married (or relatively newly married), or you have an anointing on your life for ministering to couples and/or people with emotional issues.

If you do not fall into one of those categories, you're receiving this message simply because I know you love me and cover me in prayer. Whatever your classification, know that you are dear to me and I thank God for having you in my life.

Golden rules for finding your life partnerWhen it comes to making the decision about choosing a life partner, no one wants to make a mistake. Yet, with a divorce rate of close to 50%, it appears that many are making serious mistakes in their approach to finding Mr. / Miss. Right!

If you ask most couples who are engaged why they're getting married, they'll say: "We're in love;" I believe this is the #1 mistake people make when they date. Choosing a life partner should never be based on love.Though this may sound "not politically correct," there's a profound truth here. Love is not the basis for getting married. Rather, love is the result of a good marriage. When the other ingredients are right, then the love will come.

Let me say it again, "You can't build a lifetime relationship on love alone;" You need a lot more!!!Here are five questions you must ask yourself if you're serious about finding and keeping a life partner.QUESTION 1: Do we share a common life purpose?Why is this so important?
Let me put it this way: If you're married for 20 or 30 years, that's a long time to live with someone. What do you plan to do with each other all that time? Travel, eat and jog together? You need to share something deeper and more meaningful. You need a common life purpose.

Two things can happen in a marriage:(1) You can grow together, or(2) you can grow apart.50% of the people out there are growing apart. To make a marriage work, you need to know what you want out of life! Bottom line; and marry someone who wants the same thing.QUESTION 2: Do I feel safe expressing my feelings and thoughts with this person?This question goes to the core of the quality of your relationship. Feeling safe means you can communicate openly with this person. The basis of having good communication is trust - i.e. trust that I won't get "punished," or hurt for expressing my honest thoughts and feelings.

A colleague of mine defines an abusive person as someone with whom you feel afraid to express your thoughts and feelings.Be honest with yourself on this one. Make sure you feel emotionally safe with the person you plan to marry.QUESTION 3: Is he / she a mensch?A mensch is someone who is a refined and sensitive person. How can you test? Here are some suggestions.Do they work on personal growth on a regular basis?

Are they serious about improvingthemselves? A teacher of mine defines a good person as "someone who is alwaysstriving to be good and do the right ";.So ask about your Significant other What do they do with their time? Is this person materialistic? Usually a materialistic person is not someone whose top priority is character refinement.There are essentially two types of people in the world:(1) People who are dedicated to personal growth and (2) people who are dedicated to seeking comfort. Someone whose goal in life is to be comfortable will put personal comfort ahead of doing the right thing. You need to know that before walking down the aisle.QUESTION 4: How does he / she treat other people?The one most important thing that makes any relationship work is the ability to give.

By giving, we mean the ability to give another person pleasure.Ask yourself, is this someone who enjoys giving pleasure to others or are they wrapped up in themselves and self-absorbed? To measure this, think about the following:How do they treat people whom they do not have to be nice to, such as waiters, bus boys, taxi drivers, etc.How do they treat their parents and siblings? Do they have gratitude and appreciation? If they don't have gratitude for the people who have given them everything; Can you do nearly as much for them? You can be sure that someone who treats others poorly, will eventually treat you poorly as well.
QUESTION 5: Is there anything I'm hoping to change about this person after we're married?Too many people make the mistake of marrying someone with the intention of trying to "improve;" them after they're married. As a colleague of mine puts it: "You can probably expect someone tochange after marriage for the worse" If you cannot fully accept this person the way they are now, then you are not ready to marry them.In conclusion, dating doesn't have to be difficult and treacherous. The key is to try leading a little more with your head and less with your heart. It pays to be as objective as possible when you are dating; to be sure to ask questions that will help you get to the key issues. Falling inlove is a great feeling, but when you wake up with a ring on your finger, you don't want to find yourself in trouble because you didn't do your homework.

Another perspective. ...There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance....It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go of or at least minimize your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going anywhere relationships. Observe the relationships around you.Pay attention... .Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones discourage? Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill? When you leave certain people do you feel better or feel worse? Which ones always have drama or don't reallyunderstand, know, or appreciate you?The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you... the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the front row and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.An African proverb states, "Before you get married, keep both eyes open, and after you marry, close one eye;"

Before you get involved and make a commitment to someone, don't let lust, pity, desperation, immaturity, ignorance, pressure from others or a low self-esteem make you blind to warning signs. Keep your eyes open, and don't fool yourself that you can change someone or that what you see as faults aren't really that important.Do you bring out the best in each other?
Do you compliment and compromise with each other, or do you compete, compare and control?What do you bring to the relationship?

Do you bring past relationships, past hurt, past mistrust, past pain?You can't take someone to the altar to alter them. You can't make someone love you or make someone stay. If you develop self-esteem, spiritual discernment, and "a life," youwon't find yourself making someone else responsible for your happiness or responsible for your pain. Seeking status, sex, and security are the wrong reasons to be in a relationship.WHAT KEEPS RELATIONSHIPS STRONG ARE: (spirituality has to be incorporated into a relationship. .....)1. TRUST2. COMMUNICATION3. INTIMACY4. A SENSE OF HUMOR5. SHARING TASKS6. SOME GETAWAY TIME WITHOUT BUSINESS OR CHILDREN7. DAILY EXCHANGES (meal, shared activity, hug, call, touch, notes,8. SHARING COMMON GOALS AND INTERESTS9. GIVING EACH OTHER SPACE TO GROW WITHOUT FEELING INSECURE10. GIVING EACH OTHER A SENSE OF BELONGING AND ASSURANCES OF COMMITMENTIf these qualities are missing, the relationship will erode as resentment withdrawal, abuse, neglect, and dishonesty; and pain will replace it.
