Amy Joyner beaten to death by a girl gang, bystanders record for social media

Amy Inita Joyner-Francis, 16, lost her life to gang violence. The Delaware teen was attacked by a gang of girls in the restroom at her high school, Howard High School of Technology in Wilmington. The altercation on Thursday morning, April 21, was allegedly over a boy according to some.
She was taken to the hospital after a scuffle with a group of girls that ended with her head being slammed against a sink in the restroom, leaving her unconscious. Bystanders watched and recorded.
"She went in there to talk things out. She didn't believe in fighting," a classmate, Nik Stryminski, told Delaware Online, "and the craziest thing is she died in a fight."
In an interview with FOX news, Amy's heartbroken dad, Sonny Francis says of this tragedy, "I thought schools were a safe place. I think this is a dream and I'm trying to wake up. All I know is my daughter is gone. She was the love of my life and it hurts. There was an altercation that initially started between two people, and my understanding is that additional individuals joined in against the one person."
Amy had a reputation for being a quiet teen who counseled friends. She was captain of her high school's wrestling team and had plans to attend college.
Her father added, "I thought that the schools were a safe place that you could drop your kids off and they would come home after school, but apparently that's not the case with some of the schools now ... The children are out of control."
During a press conference with the media, Wilmington Mayor Dennis William said, "My heart bleeds for the family."
Amy was airlifted to A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead. The cause of death has not been confirmed.

Wake Up Black America: We're Sleepwalking Back to Slavery

The intent of this book is to say to Black America " Wake Up", "Wake Up". African Americans interviewed state that today in the United States we have two battles to fight and we continue to only look at one. We must continue to fight discrimination. However, those interviewed, stated that we are failing miserably to look at the serious problems where we, African Americans, are the most probable cause and as a result have not begun this fight. Data reviewed revealed that this situation has many in our communities becoming totally dependent again and they are "Sleepwalking Back To Slavery".
This book explores twelve key areas of African American life that many say have become serious problems that we are not recognizing. It also reveals that we have made tremendous accomplishments in this country, to date, overcoming obstacle after obstacle to make it happen. However, the book also reveals that the once solid foundation that supported this growth, and was built by our forefathers, is cracking. We have outlined some of these problems, probable causes, most probable causes and strategies for recovery for our readers.
Robert R. Johnson was born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi. After graduating from Sadie V. Thompson High School he left Natchez. Robert, looking for employment moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1960. Several years later, in 1964, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served 18 months in Heidelberg, Germany. He graduated from Chicago State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He later earned a Certificate in Marketing from Wharton School of Business. Robert worked for the Postal Service for 34 years where he met and married his lovely wife Dr. Glenda Johnson. They have three children, Rashod, Raven and Diana. Robert is also a member of the Black Star Project of Chicago, an organization established to close the educational gap for Black and Brown children in the United States.

Dear Friends,
As we continue to fight for a school funding formula that is fair for all students, we must also remember to honor our students - especially those who aim high and make the extra effort to become the change they seek for the world.
That is why I sponsored legislation that will award qualifying high school students with a State Global Scholar Certificate upon graduation. This legislation just passed the Senate with very strong support and will now be discussed in the House of Representatives before being passed into law.
Students will be able to complete the Global Scholar Certification Program by taking globally focused classes, engaging in global collaboration and dialogue, learning unique ways to give back to the community and the entire world, and completing a capstone project demonstrating global competency.
Our state and our country are in need of young people ready to take on the world and make it a better place. This certificate works toward this goal by confirming that our students are sharpening skills for 21st century success in STEM, health and business.
The certification also encourages foreign language proficiency, deepens cultural empathy and creates opportunities for globally collaborative classrooms that can focus on, among many other things, anticipating international trends and how they will impact sectors like agri-business and manufacturing.
The complex international politics and economic policy-making of our globalized world stand as a testament to how important a developed global worldview really is and how important a program like this has become for the next generation.
The Illinois State Board of Education will take up the task of establishing specific criteria for becoming a global scholar (no changes to existing curriculum will be necessary), and while school district participation is optional, I would encourage everyone to participate because without an eye on the bigger picture, we may not find a solution to the problems right in front of us.

The MMR vaccine gives Black boys autism at a rate of nearly 200x more than their white counterparts. A whistle-blower, and current employer of the CDC, by the name of Dr. William Thompson wrote a letter to a medical journal apologizing for what he and his cohorts did by suppressing the truth about the MMR vaccine.
